A clip from the movie Velvet Goldmine. The song is called Hot One and it’s performed by Shudder To Think on the Velvet Goldmine soundtrack.

Recorded and originally intnded for the album Hunky Dory. Then it was released as a single. Not sure on it’s rarity.

@KnightOfDelusion – i think there may be two versions actually – this sounds different than the other version… I feel like this may be Meyers himself singing – heard he sang one of the songs for the movie. The original is by shudder to think.

@MOONST0MP It was written for the film to supplement the original glam rock songs they used from other artists like Roxy Music. Shudder To Think are a modern band who are known for producing music in diverse styles.

@i3u7n5 I have to disagree with you there mate, i think Placebo’s ’20th Centery boy’ spoills the album, i dont like it, Pulp’s ‘we are the boys’ is great although for some reason it is on the album but isnt actualy on the film???

@holymanson09 It’s also on the reissue of “Ziggy Stardust” that came out in 1990. That’s the one I have and you might find it second hand…
There’s something weird in the Bowie catalogue : the albums were re-issued in 1990 WITH bonus tracks. And then re-remastered in 1999 WITHOUT bonus tracks. lol. And now some of the older albums are re-issued with an extra CD full of bonus tracks.

Velvet Goldmine was to be on side 2 of ‘Ziggy Stardust’ as late as December ’71 until Bowie decided it was “a lovely tune but probably too provocative”. It was then shelved until late 1975 when it appeared on the Space Oddity Ep.
Probably 1 of his most catchy tunes, love it to bits

I think they put it on the Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, but I won’t swear to it. As I’m thinking about it now, I think that’s wrong. But it’s on the CD that has Lady Stardust on it whichever one that is, I can’t remember. Grrr. I’m getting rusty.lol. I’ll have to check it out. I have the album, I should know and now I’m frustrated.lol. But I love this song. I’d be his panther princess any day.

It’s on a special, two disc version of Ziggy Stardust (an anniversary thing, I think) – this song is on the bonus disc, along with a few awesome alternate, Arnold Corns versions of some other songs, (Arnold Corns is an early Bowie project, check it out!).

YES it is The great Rod Stewart. Mick Ronson, who was one of the Spiders from Mars, was much more handsome and more gifted in song writing and music-2 brilliant albums-Original.
